Our StoryGood food, honestly produced

For me, being a Butcher is so much more than simply selling meat. Along with my wife Sally, who is a veterinary surgeon, we know we have a special responsibility to offer our customers nutritious, honestly produced food from animals raised with care and skill and to support our local farmers and the vital role they play in managing our local environment.
We work with some incredibly dedicated farmers we know and trust, who have the highest standards of animal welfare and whose farms and animals we are familiar with. These partnerships are an essential part of our story and the reason you can have absolute confidence in the meat we sell.
At the heart of our community
Along with my manager Nikki, I have been involved with this butchers for 15 years and so was delighted to seize the opportunity to make it my own. Being able to source all my own venison and working so closely with our farmers has further enhanced my understanding and respect for our craft. With a focus on personal service and attention to detail “Cottenham’s” is a cutting edge yet traditional family butchers. Good food connects people and puts a smile on their faces- how could we not be proud of that?
40 High Street has been at the heart of this community since at least 1970 when we know it was Listed as H. J. Box Butchers. The family owned grazing lands nearby which enabled them to sell their high quality meat locally. Nearly 50 years on it is humbling to be able to continue this tradition by supplying customers and supporting schools in Lindfield and surrounding villages with naturally kept, healthy, nutritious, locally produced food whilst championing our farming guardians of the landscape.
